To UK Covenspacers: Can't Stop the Serenity

    Sunday, July 6, 2008, 12:20 PM [General]

I wanted to drop a note about a fantastic event in your neck of the woods.

Can't Stop the Serenity is a worldwide tour of Joss Whedon's sci fi flick, Serenity. It's one of my faves and has an intense cult following. Based on Whedon's short lived but passionately loved show, Firefly, there is action, witty reparte, challenged love, scary bad guys and the best damn heroes money can buy.

All proceeds from the tour go to Joss Whedon's favorite charity, Equality Now, which, among a ton of other things:
Distributes information about human rights violations
Takes action to protest these violations
Brings public attention to human rights violations against women.

The goal this year is to raise $150,000.

The screenings are a ton of fun and go to support a great cause, and this month there is gonna be one in Leicester - 18th of July. Below is the link for more info and to book tix. There are still lots of seats available, which is not good when you are trying support a cause, right? Tickets cost only Five pounds fifty, which is a great price for such a good time.

So go! And tell me how it is, because I missed my local one this year! Sad.

Read all the info - there are drawings and a costume contest, plus merchandise for sale, for avid fangeeks like me!
